Hi, this is John Heinrich from The Small Business Success School. I’ve got another TikTok tip. Just before I started my online session, which preceded this, I got a call from a telemarketer, reminding me that while telemarketing is extremely valuable, if it’s done correctly, 90% of the people don’t do it correctly, and they don’t do it correctly starting at the beginning, which means the introduction.

Now we have used what we call relationship telemarketing. In fact, we pioneered the term about 25 years ago, and the way we started was with the first statement: “If we’re doing it voice to voice, one-on-one, do you have a minute to talk?” If the answer is yes, then I, and or whoever’s working for me, go into our spiel, which is always custom-crafted.

And if it’s a recording, done from a robocall, then we say this is so-and-so, John from Financial Services, Inc., calling to inform you about a new program we have on final expenses. Don’t waste people’s time getting into why you’re calling. It takes their time, and they wind up resenting it, so don’t do that.

Instead, be direct. Be to the point. Tell people why you’re calling, and why it should be distinct from all your competitors. And if you’re going to use foreign telemarketing services, make sure they can speak English well, because if you or your customers can’t understand what they’re saying, you’re wasting your money.

So those are several tips to keep in mind as you’re doing or orchestrating telemarketing programs. Again, thanks for your attention. Thanks for taking our courses. Take a look at our new site, theoriginalbizguru.com. Thanks.
